Another guest post from Ben, and with a snippet from Josh too. This was our walk up to Walla Crag yesterday.
Walking to Walla Crag was really fun. We had a really nice picnic and found two geocaches. The view was very good, and I liked the waterfalls by the bridge.
I had stayed at my Grandma and Grandad’s the night before we went for this walk, and I wasn’t too sure about going. The weather was quite sunny, but a bit cold at home, and I thought it might be chilly.
When we got to Ashness Bridge, we parked the car and had a play by the river on the rocks, and Josh found some rocks which were really good fun, so the walk started out extremely well. Once we set off up the hill, there were some scratchy bushes that we had to climb past, and up some rocks. All the way up , we kept turning round to look at the view, which was lovely. We could see all the way to Bassenthwaite, and across Derwentwater to Catbells. Mummy and Daddy kept pointing things out to me, like Castle Crag and Skiddaw. We saw a buzzard too, and Mummy picked Bonnie up because she was worried that the buzzard was circling suspiciously overhead!
We had a picnic, and it was really warm. I found this walk very good, and better than I thought it would be. I thought it was going to be really high and boring, but it was really exciting because we found some geocaches.
I would give this walk 4 out of 5 because it was fun, and not too far – Mummy’s phone didn’t record it right, but we think we walked about a mile and a half. It would have been better if there had been more bit of rocks to climb, but the views were worth doing the walk for.
