I walked around today, on my usual walking route with the dogs, looking for a solitary tree, which was representative of how I was feeling. I had visions of a tree in the middle of nowhere, with no leaves, looking forlorn – which would be a good representation of how I was feeling today. Typically I couldn’t find one.
After several unsuccessful attempts at goldeneyes on the river (why can they not swim closer to the bank I am on?) I noticed this patch of snowdrops growing under a hedgerow, and they caught my eye. I particularly like the juxtapostion of the newly blooming flowers together with the rotting apple, which I feel is greatly symbolic of the circle of life, and demonstrates how the death of one thing can lead to the new life of another. Or I just didn’t notice the apple until afterwards. You choose.
